Highgate School

Highgate School, located in the heart of the prestigious village of Highgate, North London, the school has educated a long string of famous former pupils. It caters for pupils between the ages of 4 and 18 over the large campus site, with Pre-Preparatory and Junior School being 600m away from the Senior School.

NBC involvement with this project includes:

• NBC won the Invitation to Tender with a value engineered solution, commencing the installation in 1999

• Large duct infrastructure to link all campuses together with several road crossings, including the very busy North Road. Liaison with the Local Authority and Utility Companies to obtain the necessary road opening licence

• Multimode/Singlemode fibre optic backbone to support Ethernet network and high resolution CCTV solution

• Molex Premise Network Cat 5E cabling scheme throughout 26 buildings, some being a real challenge due to their age and architecture

• Being a Molex Premise Network Certified installer enables NBC to issue a 20 year warranty to the installation

• Multicore telephony distribution cabling around the entire campus

• Installed Ethernet hardware to 10/100 Mbps performance to the desk for administration and academic networks

• The fibre optic links between Senior and Junior Schools enabled the leased lines and PSTN telephony lines to become redundant, dramatically improving their return on investment as well as being able to offer a very IT focused learning environment

• During building refurbishments/office moves NBC still supported Highgate School on all aspects of the installation
